Recently CBC's program "The Current" presented a series of radio programs on how African countries have dealt with the aftermath of their disastrous events of their recent past: genocide in Rwanda, apartheid in South Africa, years of civil war in Mozambique and Sierra Leone.
You can read a synopsis, view accompanying photos and most importantly, listen to each program here: Africa: After the Wars.

War stops, a dictator falls, a genocide is halted. Life has to resume but the horror stays engraved in the bodies and the memories of the people who survive. What do you do with the past, if life is to continue? Many nations that have gone through the horror of conflicts, massacres and oppression are searching for relief.
In Africa, what remains is an open wound in the community, and myriad options, from shrouding the whole matter in silence to a ritualistic search for truth and reconciliation.
